Richfield, Utah - Kathleen Lovell Anderton, 91, of Richfield passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 4, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born on October 29, 1925 to Lorenzo and Mamie Lovell, Kathleen was the youngest of 12 children. She graduated from Delta High School and attended Brigham Young Academy before joining the Army Cadet Nurse Corps in 1944 and earning her Registered Nurse degree.

In 1947 she relocated to Richfield to work in the brand new Sevier Valley Hospital. It was there she met her husband John Wilmer Anderton. They were sealed in the Manti LDS Temple on September 20, 1948 and have been best friends and sweethearts for 68 wonderful years.

Kathleen worked as an RN for most of her married life. She was a Sevier County Public Health Nurse for six years, and worked at the Sevier County Hospital and the Richfield Care Center for many years while raising their six children. She worked at Central Utah Mental Health and Substance Abuse until she retired at age 71.

Active members of the LDS Church, Kathleen and Wilmer served missions at the LDS Employment Resource Center in Richfield and at the Cove Fort Historic Site. Throughout her life Kathleen served in the Church and in the community, holding many leadership positions. She was an active member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers for more than 50 years. She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to her family as well as to many others whose lives she touched with her service, compassion, and wisdom. She was an example of Christ like service, truly an “elect lady.”

Kathleen is survived by her husband Wilmer; her daughters Lina Nielson (Bob) Owens, Chino Valley, AZ; Sharon (Don) Phillips, Kansas City, MO; Camille (Gaylen) Moore, Panguitch, UT; Marijane Robinson (Dane) Hughes, Cedar City, UT; Robyn (Mark) Porter, Parker, CO; 18 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her 11 siblings and their spouses; her niece Janice Olsen Cope (who was raised as her little sister); son, Ren Lovell Anderton; and sons-in-law, Michael W. Nielson and Todd B. Robinson.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. David Pope and the Zion’s Way Hospice nurses and staff for their very compassionate care.
