Gene Arlen Henderson of Ponca City, Oklahoma, died Thursday, February 2, 2017, at his home in Ponca City at the age of 81 years.

Gene Arlen Henderson was born on September 28, 1935, in Enid, Oklahoma, to Clifford Henderson and Earlean (Beard) Epps. He attended Blackwell Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1953. He married Elva Lea Huhn on November 23, 1956, and she preceded him in death on December 30, 1998. He worked as a distillation operator at Conoco Phillips. He enjoyed country music, gardening, car restoration and hot rods. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his companion of twelve years, Barbara Seabridge of Ponca City; one son, Ty Henderson of Owasso; one daughter, Gena Westerman and husband Michael, of Owasso; three grandchildren, Logan Westerman and wife Melyssa of Owasso, Preston Westerman of Owasso, and Morgan Westerman of Owasso; and three great grandchildren, Addison, Brynlea, and Captain Westerman of Owasso.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Helen Ackerson; and one nephew, Daryl Ackerson.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at the First United Methodist Church, Blackwell, Oklahoma, with Rev. Cap McIlnay, First United Methodist Church, Blackwell, Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Logan Westerman, Preston Westerman, Michael Westerman, Sean Seabridge, Scott Seabridge and Dirk Seabridge.

A memorial has been established with Hospice of North Central Oklahoma c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 West Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
