US Marine Private First Class Odell Dickens was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Marine Corps Selective Service and a Draftee, PFC Dickens served our country until February 25th, 1969 in Quang Tri, South Vietnam. He was 20 years old and was not married. He served our country for less than a year.

Odell was loved by his whole family, his friends and neighbors. He was #7 out of 18 children. He always thought 7 was a unlucky number. He was nicknamed "Colt 45" because he loved the old western movies. Odell loved life. You couldn't tell for he was very humble. This young man was very athletic and excelled in Basketball & Baseball. It was a personal struggle for Odell. He loved and had respect for all people and for him to go to war he had to leave the ones he loved. His fiancee Annie Davis still believes Odell is still alive because we never got to see his body. He was a Soldier for Christ & a Soldier for his country. He knew he had to represent his country. He was a 1967 graduate of Phillips High School of Battleboro. His oldest brother SSG Harry Dickens also served in the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart Awardee. His younger brother 1st Sgt.
