It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dorothy Ruth Elder. She died peacefully on January 31, 2017 at the age of 92. She had been widowed since 1998 when her husband, Jim Elder died. She lived an independent life and loved her home and taking care of her plants especially her azaleas. Dorothy never let anything get by her. She always worried about the welfare of her son, (Ron), granddaughter; Amanda, husband (Rob) Minniear ,great-grandsons, Sully and Gavin. As well as her grandson Ed, wife(Jennifer) Carey and her great-grandsons, Gavin, Pierce and Knox. She is preceded in death by her parents; Dol and Mamie Graham. Dorothy's sister, Margie Fomby also preceded her in death along with Ralph Fomby. Dorothy very much loved her sisters children, Mike, wife (Lou) Fomby and their daughter Carol and her family. Dorothy leaves behind her sisters; Inez Deramus including her son Bill and wife (Kimmey) Deramus and their children, Misty and Ginger and their families. Also her younger sister; Joan Dryden and her children, Roger, Randy and daughter Rhonda Hardy and husband Ronnie. Mother loved and cared deeply about her family. May she rest in peace with her beloved Jim. Graveside service will be held on Monday, February 6, 2017 at 11:00 am at Greenwood Cemetery. At the request of the family, there will be no public visitation.
