Tulia, Texas — Peggy Stevens, 81, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, February 6, 2017 in the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Stone, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, February 5, 2017 from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at the funeral home.

Peggy was born on July 22, 1935 in Crosby County, Texas to Ben and Myrtle Spear. She grew up in Hedley and graduated from Hedley High School in 1953. She married Julius Stevens on January 15, 1954. They lived in Lubbock for about a year before moving to Childress. They lived there until 1966 when they moved to Tulia. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Tulia.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother: Benny Spear.

She is survived by her husband: Julius Stevens of Tulia, two daughters: Leslie Cruger of Canyon and Kristie Bennetsen of Horn Lake, Mississippi, two sisters: Betty Jo Morgan of Hedley and Erma Jean Bailey of Tahoka, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
