Edith attended Rockwell High School and worked in the textile mills. Mrs. Duncan was also a Seamstress and Homemaker. She was a life long member of St. James Lutheran Church where she was a member of the choir and served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. Edith was a member of the Auxiliary of the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary as well as the Rockwell American Legion Auxiliary where she held many offices throughout the years. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, spending time with family, and was a faithful contributor and supporter to Billy Graham for his work in the ministry
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Duncan is preceded in death by a brothers, J.C. Fesperman and Hubert L. Fesperman, two sisters, Mildred F. Carter and Mary C. Gosney, and one grandson, Patrick Scott Parker.
Edith Duncan is survived by her husband of 36 years, Henry Tillman Duncan; one daughter, Trudy Holshouser Amery of Charlotte; three step-sons, Henry Michael Duncan of West Palm Beach, FL, Matthew Hilton Duncan of Gainesville, FL, and Rodger Thomas Duncan of Faith, NC; a brother, Larry Fesperman of Rockwell, NC; a sister, Shirley F. Cline of Rockwell, NC; grandchildren, Tonya Parker Beaver of Concord, Alexander Sinclair Amery of Brooklyn, NY, Brandon Alan Amery of Asheville, and Mark Matheson Amery of Asheville; step-grandchildren, Andrew Marshall Duncan, Daniel Thomas Duncan, Cole Ritchie Duncan, and Kristy Ladell Duncan; and one great grandchild, Parker Claire Beaver.
A visitation will be held on Thursday December 20, 2012 from 6:00 to 7:30 PM at Powles Funeral Home. The service will be held on Friday, December 21, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. James Lutheran Church in Rockwell, NC and the burial will follow in the church cemetery.
