Ivan “Bing” Larry Roberts, age 81 of Knoxville, Illinois died at 2:42 P.M. on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at OSF St. Mary’s Medical Center in Galesburg, Illinois.
He was born on December 4, 1935 in Bernadotte Twp. in Fulton County, Illinois, the son of John M and Bertha L. Morris Roberts. He married Agnes G. Bush on March 9, 1957 at the Abingdon Christian Church in Abingdon, Illinois.
Surviving is his wife, Agnes of Knoxville, Illinois; his children: Iran “Rocky” (Deborah Sue) Roberts of Knoxville, Illinois, Charles “Rowdy” (Elizabeth) Roberts of Knoxville, Illinois and Leatha Lynn (Bob) Purdue of Knoxville, Illinois; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a sister, Vivian (Lester) Coombs of Herman, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George and Charles.
He worked for Ameren Power Co., the former Blue Bell, Gates Rubbers Company, Admiral all of Galesburg, Illinois. He also was a truck driver for the township and over-the-road. His greatest love was farming in rural Knox County, mowing his yards and bulldozing.
Cremation Rites will be accorded. Private graveside service will be held in March. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home Fellowship Center in Knoxville, Illinois. Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in charge of arrangements. Burial will be at the Knoxville Cemetery in Knoxville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Illinois Cancer Care.
