The funeral of slain Diamond District jeweler Eduard Nektalov stopped traffic on Queens Boulevard yesterday morning, as the thousands who could not fit inside the chapel were left to mourn in the street.

With his photo pinned over each of their hearts, family and friends remembered Nektalov, 46, for his leadership of the Bukharian Jewish community.

They condemned reports his death was related to his indictment on charges he helped launder money for Colombian drug dealers.

"He didn't know any Colombians or mobsters or drug dealers," said Aron Aronov, a friend and associate, reading a written statement from the family.

A gunman shot Nektalov point-blank on Thursday evening, in what authorities called an assassination. He is still at large.

To accommodate the 3,000 mourners, the services' audio was piped outside the Schwartz Brothers funeral home in Forest Hills.

Prominent figures in the community eulogized Nektalov, who grew a watch-repair shop into an immigrant success story.

Nektalov was buried in a section of Wellwood Cemetery in Farmingdale, L.I., that he and his father, Roman, helped establish.
