On September 6th, 1957 Ervin married the “apple of his eye” and the love of his life, Rosemarie Ohlson. Together they raised six rambunctious boys and served as a father figure in the lives of many others.
Ervin is survived by his beloved wife, Rosemarie, of 59 years, and six sons, Frank (Cathy), Dennis (Melinda), Tony (Valerie), Jeff (Kelly), Darren (Susie), and Jason.
Ervin began working at Mt. Arbor Nursery in Zillah at the age of 14. His hard work earned him multiple promotions culminating with a management position prior to his first retirement. Ervin took his years of experience and passion for nursery farming into the founding of his own successful company, Harris and Sons Nursery, which enabled him to farm and work with his sons.
Ervin was an avid sports fan who would enjoy watching anything from curling to boxing. He especially enjoyed family gathering to watch football.
Ervin will be remembered for being a great husband, a fantastic father who spent his free time playing with his children. Christmas was his favorite holiday because he would buy his children games/gifts that he would spend his free time playing with them. Dad had a competitive nature in all he did. If you happened to win or beat him at anything from croquet to cards, you must have gotten very lucky and it surely wouldn’t happen again, according to him.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
