WATERTOWN – Mrs. Barbara A. (Frenis) Larkin, 79, of Oakville, passed away at Waterbury Hospital on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2017. She was the loving wife of Robert J. “Red” Larkin for 58 years.
Barbara was born on June 5, 1937, in Waterbury, daughter of the late Angelo and Anne (Longo) Frenis.

She attended Webster Grammar School and was a graduate of Waterbury Catholic High. She worked as a secretary at Vickars Manufacturing until becoming a wife and most importantly, a mother. She was devoted to her family, loved art and music, and was a talented crafter, which she showed by taking great pleasure in her home. She worked for several years at a local podiatrist and several more as a merchandiser at American Greetings. She made many fond memories with her terrific co-workers.

Her greatest joy was her grandchildren, and she doted on them every chance she could. Her delicious chicken soup will be missed terribly. Her personality was warm and welcoming, and she became fast friends with all whom she met. She loved crossword puzzles and will be fondly remembered for her quick wit.

Besides her husband, Robert, Barbara leaves behind her three children, Robert F. Larkin and his wife, Connie Jean, of West Palm Beach, Fla., Kerry Larkin of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Holly Leone and her husband, Dr. Vincent Leone, of Wolcott. She also leaves behind her five grandchildren, Breanna Larkin, Natalie Leone, Colin Larkin, Sam Parsecepe and Rachel Leone; her nieces and nephews, Stephen Frenis, his wife, Janet, and their two daughters, Janet Vitale, her husband, Robert, and their five sons, James Frenis, his wife, Ellen, and their two daughters, and her goddaughter, Janey Bass. She was predeceased by her brother, Stephen M. Frenis.

Arrangements: Funeral will be held Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017, at 9 a.m. from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury, to St. Mary Magdalen Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
