Douglas G. Duncan, 80, of Lubbock, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016 in Lubbock.

Services will be held Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church, with Dr. John Wade, officiating. Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery under the direction of Archer Funeral Home.

Doug was born April 8, 1936 in Wellington, Texas to Badge and Burnalee Baird Duncan. He was a 1954 graduate of Wellington High School. He received a Bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University, where he played football for the Red Raiders. He married Sherry Funderburg in Breckenridge on December 22, 1956. Following graduation, he managed the pharmacy department at Furr’s in Roswell, N.M. Doug was a teacher and a coach in Ralls, Wilson, Slaton, Lorenzo and Seymour. He had a 16 year career coaching in Seymour. He then went to Brownfield and finally, Lamesa where he was a middle school coordinator for 10 years. Upon retirement, the couple came back to Seymour, where they lived for over 20 years, before moving to Lubbock. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sherry Duncan of Lubbock; a daughter, Stacy Holub and husband, Tommy of Seymour; a son, Douglas Randal “Randy” Duncan and wife, Sharla of Lubbock; 4 grandchildren, Jordan Ickert and husband, Mark; Hayden Holub and wife, Sam, Brady Ragland and fiancé, Terrica Taylor and Macy Duncan.

Visitation will be from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.
