William J. Nixon, 79, of Sandusky, passed away on Thursday morning, January 19, 2017 in his home, surrounded by his family.

He was born on May 18, 1937 in Clinchco, Virginia to the late William Jefferson Nixon and Ella Mae (Creed) Nixon. He worked for J.H. Routh for 38 years.

William was a classic car enthusiast. He also loved camping and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. He was also a huge Cleveland Indians fan. Most important in his life, however, was his family. He especially loved spending time with his grand- and great-grandkids.

William is survived by his wife of 59 years, Patricia (Prewitt) Nixon, whom he married on December 14, 1957; children, Karen (William) Howard, Jean (John) Orzech, Jeffrey Nixon, Kimberly (Kenneth) Trimarche, and Kenneth (Penny) Nixon; grandchildren, Alison (Domenic), Christopher, Danny (Stacy), Erik, Tyler, Johnny (Aurora), Amanda, Hailey (Zach), Alexis, Kyle (Shaina), Kenneth, Allison, Leah, and Kaiden; 19 greatgrandchildren; sisters, Pearl Rose, Laurie (Don) Waldron, Francis (Danny) Harlow, and Dorothy Rose; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Lydia Sizemore, Edna Stokley, Virginia Wilborn, Wanda Corey, and Robert Nixon.

Friends may call on Sunday, January 22 from 1-7 p.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in New Life Church, Rt. 250, Sandusky, with Pastor John Adams officiating. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
