Keiffer M Bess was born on April 17, 1915 in Tennessee, and he was the son of Arthur Bess (1880-1930) and Manella Elizabeth "Nella" (Taylor) Bess (ca 1889-1961).
A farmer living out of Ashland City on Rural Route 3, he was 21 years old and single when he drowned on October 18, 1936 after he failed to make a sharp curve at the edge of Cumberland River just before reaching Cleese Ferry landing, and his car rolled down the bank and into the river. Burial was the same day in Spring Hill Cemetery. Olive June Burton (1920-1936) was in the car with Keiffer, and she didn't survive, either.
Most of the above is from his Death Certificate, with S B Bess of Ashland City, Rural Route 3 as the informant. Added info is from his original obituary in The Tennessean on November 13, 1936.
