St. Matthews - Funeral services for Homer A. Townsend, 68, of St. Matthews, will be held 11 a.m. today in the Chapel of Southland Memorial Gardens conducted by Rev. Roger Goupil, with entombment to follow in the mausoleum. Memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, 546 Gardners Terrace Rd., West Columbia, SC 29172. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is in charge. Mr. Townsend died Saturday, July 8, 2000. Born in Calhoun Co., he was the son of the late Baxter Allison and Mary Salina Lever Townsend. He was a lifetime resident and attended Shiloh United Methodist Church. Mr. Townsend was the retired owner of Townsend Grocery located on Hwy. 176 in St. Matthews and was a U.S. Army veteran.
