Earlene was a member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts and a longtime member of the former First Church of Christ, Scientist in Bay City, MI.
She married Richard F. Chanel in 1950 and he preceded her in death in 2001. Prior to retirement she was an insurance agent and worked along with her husband, Richard Chanel in his insurance office.
She was a former member of the Zonta Club, the League of Women Voters and the Bay County Literacy Council. For many years she was a volunteer in the Essexville-Hampton Schools.
She is survived by 3 children: Jill Chanel, Rick Chanel and Beth (Miroslav) Skripnik, a son-in-law John Matuszewski, 5 grandchildren: Jenesa (Steven) Niswonger, Benjamin Skripnik, Aaron Matuszewski, Nicholas (Stacey) Skripnik and Robyn (Josh) Pulver, and 6 great grandchildren: Caleb, Alexis, Nathan, Jace, Maicie and Jaxon. She was preceded in death by a daughter Wendy A. Matuszewski.
A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Those wishing to offer an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Toni & Trish House or an animal rescue organization.
