Robert W. Allison, 79, of Murphysboro, died at 3:51 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 2017, in Carbondale.

Robert was born on May 3, 1937, in Murphysboro, a son to the late Mack W. and Bessie L. (Nance) Allison. He was united in marriage to Phyllis A. Swetland in Murphysboro on April 2, 1956. Phyllis survives of Murphysboro.

Robert was a retired sales representative and manager for the Metropolitan Life Insurance.

Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January, 31, 2017, at Crawshaw Funeral Home in Murphysboro; Pastor Davy Miller will officiate. Burial will be at Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials are the preferred form of remembrance and may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Allison of Murphysboro; one son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Wesley and Angie Allison of Pomona; two daughters and one son-in-law, Bobbie and Doug Volner of Pomona and Laura Halleran of West Frankfort, IL; five grandchildren, Stephanie Allison, Jamie Lynn (Christopher) Foreman, Carrie Nagel, Jessica Ann (Larry) Ragsdale, and Cody (Heather) Halleran; and nine great-grandchildren, Morgan, Allison, and Hannah Morris, Maddie Nagel, Christian and Addison Foreman, Dustin and Joleen Ragsdale, and Beau Halleran.
