Fred Knight Sr. and his family owned a candy business called Knight's Homemade Chocolates.

He was also the Mayor of Highspire for the last 22 years. He graduated from Morgantown High School. Fred also was employed by the Steelton Plant of the Bethlehem Steel Company until 1942.

He was serving his sixth term as Mayor of Highspire. He was first elected in 1941.

He was a veteran of WW One. He was a member of the Olmsted Air Force Base Community Council, Republican Century Club, Harrisburg Chamber of Commerce, Steelton American Legion Post and Highspire Fire Company. He was also a honorary member of the Highspire Lions Club.

Fred was from a Huge family!! He had 12 full biological brothers and sisters and several half brothers and sisters. His father was married twice the first marriage he was married to Margaret Isabelle Moore Knight and the second marriage he was married to Myrtle Settles Knight. This was a huge family. Fred also had a daughter named, Dorothy Knight Esbenshade.
