"Death of Mrs. Dr. Zina Pitcher.

Our city will be pained to. hear, as we are grieved to record, the death of Mrs. Ann Eliza Sheldon, wife of Dr. Zina Pitcher, of this city. She died on Sunday, the 14th Inst at half-past four o'clock in the afternoon, of a disease of the heart.

Mrs. P was born at Little Falls, in the State of New York, on the 23th day of May, in the year 1800, and was consequently, at the time or her death, sixty-four years, two months, and twenty days of age.

She removed to Detroit in the year 1823, and was married to Dr. Pitcher in 1834. Her experience in frontier life was of the most varied and exciting character. Dr. Pitcher, as a surgeon in the United States Army, was stationed at different points from to 183-, when he resigned and made Detroit his home.

At almost every frontier post, and everywhere, (illegible) P. was the life or the social circle, distinguished as she always was for her bright intellectual qualities. At the time her son was born, she was residing in the Cherokee country, and so deeply and firmly was the Cherokee nation attached to Dr. and Mrs. P. that they at once adopted him as a chief.

Mrs. P. was a direct descendant from the celebrated Roger Williams, of Rhode Island. She was a sister of Col. Thomas C. Sheldon, so long and so favorably known to our citizens, and of lion. John P. Sheldon, formerly of this city, but now of Willow Springs, Wisconsin."
