Angelo L. Tirro. Life-Long Revere Resident, WWII Army Veteran, Retired Commercial Artist for Boston Globe for 35 years, who died following a lengthy illness on Saturday, January 21st at the Soldiers' Home of Chelsea. Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere at 10:00 a.m.

Born & raised in Revere, he attended Revere schools and was an alumnus of Revere High School, Class of 1934.

He entered the U.S. Army in November of 1943 & served during WWII until April of 1946 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He was a student at the School of Practical Art & graduated in June of 1949 and later would attend the Scott Carbee School of Art of Boston.

He began working with the Boston Globe on February 27, 1956 & would remain there for the majority of his working career, as a Commercial Artist, retiring on March 7, 1982. His memberships included, the Quarter Century Club at Boston Globe, a life-membership at the Revere V.F.W. - Leon J. Mottollo Post #4524 & the Holy Name Society at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere.

Mr. Tirro was a long-time devotee of St. Anthony's Community Parish & an avid supporter of his church. Certificates of recognition for his 100th birthday were presented to Angelo from the Massachusetts House of Representatives and The White House. Until most recently, his daughter, Donna M. Farrell would accompany her Dad to Sunday mass at St. Anthony's. He was also a member of the Revere Council, K. of C. #179. Both Angelo & his late beloved wife, Lillian G. (Reid) Tirro, were long-time members of many national & local square dancing & round dancing clubs, throughout the country. Often, they would attend the many conventions & "round-abouts" that were given, locally & nationally. Lillian passed in May of 2011, after their 63rd wedding anniversary.

He is the devoted father of Robert L. Tirro & his wife Maureen of Hampton, NH, Donna M. Farrell & her husband Paul F. of Peabody. He is the cherished grandfather to LCDR Paul F. Farrell, Jr. & his wife, LCDR Billie-June Farrell, USN of Annapolis, Md., Allison M. Wayne & her husband C. Jake of Revere, Robert L. Tirro, Jr., Ann Stohrer, Dina M. & Paula L. Tirro. He is the dear brother of George Tirro & his late wife Mary of Revere & the late Ralph Tirro & his late wife Ruth.

Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
