Antonio Fuentes Cardenas, 83, passed away on January 24, 2017 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born on February 18, 1933 in Brackettville, TX to Jose and Anita (Fuentes) Cardenas. Antonio proudly served his country in the United States Army for 23 years. During this time, he was in the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. He was an outgoing person who was always smiling and never met a stranger. Antonio was the anchor to a large family who always counted on him for support, no matter what. He prided himself in always being early. Antonio always tried to impress upon his grandchildren his hard work ethic. He was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a temple worker at the Surry Hills temple for 20 years. Antonio was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Joe Escobedo, Johnny Escobedo, and Gilbert Escobedo. Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Felice Cardenas; children, Dolores G. Longoria and husband Roberto, M.J. Cardenas and husband Joe Horner, and Larry L. Cardenas and wife Rachel; grandchildren, Joseph Alonzo, Andrea Pierce, Antani Cardenas, Bryant Cardenas, Noah Cardenas, Jessica Cardenas, Matthew Cardenas, and Sarah Cardenas; great-grandchildren, Timothy Alonzo, Challen Alonzo, Krysta Alonzo, Anna Alonzo, Lucia Alonzo, Kolbe Alonzo, and Daniel Cardenas; great-great grandchildren, Kelani Alonzo-Nerney, Lola Marie Alonzo, and Elias Alonzo; sister, Lupe Santos and many other friends and family members who will miss him dearly. A visitation will be held Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., with viewing from 9:00a.m. - 9:50a.m., Monday, January 30, 2017 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 110 Morningside Dr, Midwest City, with interment to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens.
