Clara was born and raised by Rothsay, Minnesota. When her parents moved to Fergus Falls, Clara also moved. She later moved to Minneapolis and had a baby In Minneapolis MN, which she gave up for adoption, although she did maintain some type of relationship with him. The baby was adopted by a couple in Fergus Falls. It is said Clara was first married to a Charles Gray, but they divorced. She married Carl Barks and they lived in California. They also divorced. The marriage was said not to be a good one as Carl said Clara was an alcoholic.
