Greg was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Gloster High School in Gloster, Mississippi. Greg attended the University of Mississippi and served proudly in both the US Army and Navy during the Vietnam War.
Later, Greg found a home in California, where in four decades hence, he never lost his deep Southern accent nor the manners of a Southern gentleman. He was a loving, joyful man who cared deeply about his family and friends. Greg conjured smiles from and shared his infectious laugh with whomever he encountered each day -- whether family, friend, or friend to be. He will be remembered as a boisterous, selfless, and giving man, who drew from what seemed a bottomless well of neighborly consideration.
Greg Harrington is survived by his wife, Marilyn Harrington, daughters and sons, Patience Yi, John Yi, Ryan Peters, Sheena Peters, brother Wayne Harrington, five grandchildren, Allison, Gabriella and Milo, Averie, Nicolas, and many others in his extended family, all of whom he carried in his heart.
He loved Ole Miss, the 49ers and eating blackeyed peas on New Year’s Day. He will be deeply missed.
