Mrs. Dick (Anna Beving) Arends passed away at Ellsworth Hospital, Iowa Falls Wednesday evening, December 24, having been in failing health since suffering a stroke in June 1971. She attained the age of 88 years, 3 months, 14 days.
She was born September 10, 1887 in German township, Grundy county, Iowa, the daughter of Jan and Margaretha Sents Beving. On December 17, 1913 she was married to Dick Arends of Ackley by the late Rev. F. W. Engelke. They marked their 62nd wedding anniversary just a week before her death. The Arends always farmed in the Ackley vicinity except for several years at Britt and Conrad. In 1948 they retired and moved to Ackley.
She is survived by her husband Dick, two daughters Mrs. Wm. (Evelyn) Freeseman of Greene, Mrs. Leonard (Ruth) Buss of Hampton, two sons, Arnold of Wellsburg and Donald of Ackley. She had 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Behrends of Slayton, Minnesota and Mrs. Margaret Lindaman of Wellsburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, four brothers, one grandson, Bruce Arends and one son-in-law, Leonard Buss.
She was baptized, confirmed and a member of the Eastfriesland Presbyterian Church all of her life.
