Carl F. Barnum, 60, manager of the seed products division of Eastern States Farmers Exchange, Inc., Ontario and Military, died early yesterday at Sisters Hospital after an illness of three weeks. Funeral services will be held at the family home, 9648 Main Rd., Clarence, at 4 p. m, tomorrow, with the Rev. Frank Edwards of Amherst Community Church, Snyder, officiating.
Born February 14, 1888, at Woodland, Mich., the son of J. R. and. Emily Barnum, Mr. Barnum was graduated from Michigan State College in 1912 and then took post graduate work in feeds and fertilizer. Later he was associated with the Michigan State Farm Bureau. He came to Buffalo in 1927 to organize the seed division of the Eastern States Farmers Exchange, Inc. He also was chairman of the seed advisory committee under the Research & Marketing Act and was a member of the executive committee of the American Seed Trade Association.
He helped organize the Peoples Church at East Lansing, Mich., and served at different times as chairman of the board of directors and chairman of the trustees of the Amherst Community Church.
Surviving are his wife, Florence Stricklen Barnum; two children, Mrs. Jean Barnum Seaton of Collingswood, N. J., and Staff Sgt. Richard S. Barnum of McChord Field, Wash.; a brother, L. H. Barnum of Des Moines, la., a sister, Charlotte V. Barnum of Chicago, and a grandson.
