REGINA MLESSIVA
DEATH CALLS THE AGED
Regina Mlessiva After Life of Unselfish Devotion
The close of a happy life of unselfish devotion and service came last
Friday when "auntie" Regina Mlessiva, nee Havel, passed away at the home
of Mrs. Adolph Kafka, a niece and adopted daughter in the Town of Two
Rivers.
Deceased was a pioneer settler here having come here 66 years ago with
her parents from Jnlemuetz, Bohemia where she was born in 1841. Death
took away her husband a few years after her marriage and being
childless, she devoted her life to relieving distress where she found
the need, a work that made her beloved with all who knew her. Upon the
death of a sister-in-law, she made her home with the husband and small
children and took the mother's place in the household. Emil Havel of the
Town of Two Rivers was an adopted son. She did not chase the elusive
phantom of happiness in vain and selfish enjoyment but found real
happiness in service and lived her old age in the happy reflections
consequent in a well spent life - a crown worn without riches and within
reach of all. The funeral was Monday afternoon.
Deceased is survived by three sisters, Mrs. William Van Nostrand and
Mrs. Caroline Veack of Milwaukee, who were here and Mrs. Mary Kappelman
of this city and two brothers, Herman Havel of Two Rivers and Frank
Havel of California.
