She married A. Raymond Maxwell on July 2, 1952 and they had two children, A. R. Maxwell II and Sharon Ann Maxwell. Ray died in a car accident November 2, 1958. On September 3, 1965, she married Willis M. Tripp of New Gloucester, they had two sons, Edmond W. Tripp and Michael Shawn Tripp. Willis passed away October 5, 2011. She and Willis relocated to Livermore Falls where they made their home and raised their family.
She attended school in Westbrook, and later returned to night school and graduated in her cap and gown with her son, Edmund’s class. Doris worked at Livermore Shoe as a floor girl and later worked in the deli at Hannaford in Jay for 12 years before retiring in 1991.
Willis and Doris raised AKC Beagles and they belonged to the Androscoggin Valley Beagles Club. For a number of years they served as club secretary and treasurer, as well as attending Licensed Beagle Trials in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and Massachusetts. Doris was also a member and past President of the American Legion George Bunton Post 10 Auxiliary in Livermore Falls, the Livermore Falls/Jay Senior Citizens and the Red Hats. Doris enjoyed her flower gardens, painting on wood, cooking for family gatherings, she was very well known for her famous biscuits and going to Hollywood Slots and Oxford Casino.
Doris was very proud of her family, they were always special and important to her. She felt very fortunate to have been married to two of the kindest, hard-working, loving and caring men that she ever knew. Doris always thought how lucky and happy she was to have had the chance to know and love them.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Bailey and her husband Bernal of Oakland; two sons, Edmond Tripp of Limington; and Michael Tripp and his wife Chrystal of Auburn; 8 grandchildren, Kimberly Bailey, Elizabeth Clark, Jessica Eadon, Erica, Mason, Karina, and Michaela Tripp and Kyla Timberlake; 5 great-grandchildren, Kennedy Tripp, Allie and Katie Clark, and Addison and Hampton Eadon, sisters, Bertha Magoon of Woodsville, NH., Arlene Zahniser and her husband Robert of Ohio, her brother, Philip LeConte and his wife Patricia of Buxton and her sister-in-law, Jean LeConte of Westbrook.
She was predeceased by her husbands, A. Ray Maxwell and Willis Tripp, her son, A. Ray Maxwell II, brothers, Rudolph LeConte and Earl LeConte, sister, Josephine Rogers, great-granddaughter, Jade Coates and great-grandson, Julian Martin. A graveside service and interment will be held in the spring at Moose Hill Cemetery, 31 Record Road, Livermore Falls, Maine.
