YAKIMA - Cora Margaret Downen, age 91, was born to Amelia and Henry Rauch on July 17, 1915 in Canistota, South Dakota, and passed away on January 16, 2007 at Crescent Health Care, Inc. in Yakima.

Mrs. Downen came to Yakima during the 1940's. She worked for the Yakima Herald-Republic and then for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where she worked until her retirement. She was married to Douglas Downen for 34 years. She was a wonderful wife and mother and was a true lady. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and enjoyed camping.

She is survived by her husband Douglas Downen of Yakima, her son Richard Blohm of California, and by five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amelia and Henry Rauch, her son Ronald Blohm, and by her brothers Adam, Henry, Fred and Emil Rauch.

Visitation will be on Thursday from 10 until 5 at Valley Hills Funeral Home in Yakima, and private graveside services will be held at Terrace Heights Memorial Park. Send condolences at www.valleyhillsfh.com.
