Joseph "Joe" G. Ramos, 79, of Chillicothe passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 in Peoria.

Joe was born on December 12, 1937 in Chillicothe, the son of Nicholas and Eluteria (Razo) Ramos.

Surviving are: two sisters, Adela (Jessie) Cabera of Joliet and Belle Garcia of Chillicothe; one brother, Tony (Alicia) Ramos; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Tilia Garza, Ruth Granados, and Margaret Vinson; and one brother, Raphael Ramos.

He attended a one-room school north of Chillicothe and graduated from Chillicothe High School. Joe served in the U.S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post #9 and the Chillicothe VFW Post #4999. He worked at Fleming and Potter for over 30 years until he retired.

Joe was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church, where he was devoted to his religion and faith in God. He enjoyed his family and traveling. He was an avid sports fan with the St. Louis Cardinals being his favorite team.

He enjoyed his Saturday morning breakfasts with his childhood friend, Dave Larson. Although Jim Dolph had moved to Arizona, they remained very close friends over the years and miles.

A funeral mass will be held for Joe at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2017 at St. Edward Catholic Church in Chillicothe. Friends and relatives are invited to a visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Chillicothe City Cemetery. Fr. Keith Walder will
