Oliver, Jimmy 8/6/1939 - 1/7/2017 Ann Arbor Jimmy Lee Oliver (77) died January 7, 2017 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor from complications due to kidney disease. He was born August 6, 1939 in San Francisco, CA and raised by his mother Muriel (Cowles) Wanless and stepdad Wilfred Wanless. However, he spent most of his life in Ann Arbor, MI, with his wife of 53 years, Helen Marie (D'Haene). Jimmy started driving buses for the University of Michigan in 1972, working his way up into the foreman position. He retired from U-M in 2001 and went to driving buses for Getaway Tours, most notably as a frequent driver for the Saline Fiddlers when they went on tour. He finally retired for good in December of 2008. Jimmy spent many years as a very active member of the Loyal Order of Moose (known locally as the Ann Arbor Moose Lodge), where he received the Lodge's highest honor, the Pilgrim Degree of Merit. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Club in Ann Arbor. He is survived by his wife, Helen Marie (D'Haene) Oliver; sisters, JoAnn Vetter and Marilyn Shosey; daughter, Carolyn Marie (Oliver) Lowery; son-in-law, Ray Edward Lowery; and granddaughters, Alyssa Rae Lowery and Kristin Brianne Lowery.A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 28 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew's United Church of Christ in Dexter (76910 Ann Arbor Street, Dexter), to be officiated by Rev. Grant Speece. Jimmy will be buried at Arborcrest Memorial Park.
