Funeral services 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 21st street and Cleveland Boulevard. Interment Sunset Hill Cemetery, Edwardsville Township. Visitation after 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Miss Armfield is found dead

Miss Ellen Armfield, about 50, of 2323 Cleveland Blvd., was found dead at home by Granite City police at 10:30 a.m. Saturday.

A friend, Mary Hayden, called police to report she had been unable to reach Miss Armfield on the telephone for several days.

Police investigated and received no answer at Miss Armfield's home. They found the front door unlocked and entered to find Miss Armfield dead on the kitchen floor. Fire was burning on three burners of the stove and the television was on.

Evidence indicated she died of natural causes, possibly a heart attack, while she was preparing to cook. She was believed to have been dead about four or five days.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Davis Funeral Home, 21st Street and Cleveland Boulevard.
