DITCHCREEK - Betty I ., 86, of Jackson Twp., went to be with the Lord Jan. 17, 2017. Born Sept. 26, 1930 in Johnstown, daughter of the late James Porter and Anna May (Bowser) Black. Preceded in death by son, Timothy; brothers, William, James, and Gomer; and sisters, Violet Bowers, Pearl Rager, Ruth Laws, and Florence Schultz. Survived by husband Walter, of 67 years; children, Robert (Glenna) Ditchcreek; Elissa Marie (Steve) Donahue; and Daniel (Maryellen) Ditchcreek. Grandchildren, Nathan, Nadine, Benjamin, Samuel and Brenton; and 6 Great Grandchildren; Also survived by brother, Edward (Elinor) Black; sister, Elvie (Alfred) Alexander; numerous nieces and nephews; and special caretakers, Mandiee Mullen, Vanessa Hangey, Ashley Leslie and Lakyn Berringer. Member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mundys Corner. Betty loved selling vegetables from her garden on her front porch every summer for many years. She also enjoyed making flower arrangements and wreaths. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at the Askew-Houser Funeral Homes, Inc., Nanty Glo, and from 10:30 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. on Friday at St. Paul’s Church, Pastor Kevin McNamara, officiating. Interment, Ogden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s Church Memorial Fund.
