Ruth Almeda Laws, 83, of Fleshers Health Care Center, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2005, at her residence.

A native of Johnstown, PA, Mrs Laws had resided in Buncombe County since 1974 and was formerly employed by Aston Park Health Care.

She was a daughter of the late James Porter Black and Anna Mae Bowser Black and the wife of William Reuben Laws who died in 1967.

Surviving are her sons, Ralph N Laws of Candler and Renard L. Laws of Manchester, MD; grandchildren, Brian Laws and Tina Marie Wolff; great-grandchildren, Meagan Elizabeth Laws, Katherine Cook, Jason Michael Wolff, Matthew Cook, Taylor Laws, Jacob Laws and Kevin Weatherbee; sisters, Florence Schultz of Mahaffey, PA, Mary Detchreek of Mondays Corner, PA, and Elvietta Alexander of Brandywine, MD; and brothers James C. Black and Edward J. Black both of San Antonio, Gomer Black of Hope Mill and William Black of Paradise, CA.

A memorial service will be held at 1 PM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. James King officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.
