DALE E. CORTER
AGE 86 YEARS

Dale E. Corter, of McElhattan, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 16 at the Gate House at Divine Providence Hospital in Williamsport.

He was a son of the late Clarence C. and Eva M. (Fulmer) Corter.
In 1998, he married the former Connie Crist.

Dale graduated from Williamsport Area High School and Williamsport Technical Institute, where he studied construction. After retiring from a 42-year career in home building and land development, he operated a used furniture and appliance store in Williamsport for four years. Dale and his wife, Connie, were vendors at Market Haus and Grove in Lock Haven for five years. They enjoyed attending auctions together during that time. Dale was also co-owner of Sue Ann’s Home Furnishings and Gifts in McElhattan for six years.

Surviving in addition to his wife are five children, Steven W. (Brenda) Corter, of Linden, Kevin E. (Suzanne) Corter, of Fla., Sandra (Fred) Stahl, of Montoursville, Melissa Young (Harold), of South Williamsport and Natalie (Mehmet) Arslan, of Reading; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Enola Corter, of Williamsport; brother-in-laws, Wilbur Martz, of Cogan Station and Carl (Roxanne) Crist, of Salladasburg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister, Paul (Fran) Fulmer, LaRue Corter and Evalyn Martz.

Dale enjoyed attending church services, hunting, snowmobiling, listening to music, watching movies and doing puzzles. Dale always helped others in any way he could. He enjoyed the many trips he and Connie took, especially to Branson, Missouri.

Dale was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Jersey Shore, where he had served one year as a trustee. He also had served with Transform Jersey Shore Area. Dale was a founder and charter member of The West Branch Susquehanna Home Builders Association and also served as vice president and president for two years each. He served on the Pennsylvania State Home Builders Association board of directors for six years and as a regional director of the Pennsylvania State Snowmobile Association for six years.
Dale chaired many projects that improved the snowmobile trails in our area. He was a lifetime member of Devil’s Den Sportsmen’s Association and served as treasurer for 15 years.
He also was a charter member of Hyner Mountain Snowmobile Club, where he designed the lodge and served as treasurer and building committee chair for many years.

A funeral service to honor the life of Dale will be held noon on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1407 Allegheny St., Jersey Shore, PA 17740, with Pastor Joshua Beben officiating.
Burial will follow in Jersey Shore Cemetery.
