LaRue H. Corter, 86, of Williamsport, passed away Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012, at Sycamore Manor Health Center.

He was born Oct. 12, 1926, in Williamsport, the son of Clarence and Eva (Fulmer) Corter.

LaRue was the husband of the former Enola Bitner, who survives.

He was a lifelong member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church where he served as an usher and on the church council.

LaRue was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

He retired from the Faxon Lumber Co. where he was a foreman. Prior to joining the Army he had worked two years at the Grit Publishing Co.

LaRue loved to watch baseball, football and enjoyed gardening.

He is survived by his wife, Enola and a son, David Corter of Cogan Station; a brother, Dale (Connie) Corter of Woolrich; three grandchildren, Shawn(Bettina) Corter of Germany, Travis and Jason Corter, both of Williamsport; three great-grandchildren, Luna, Nova and Millia Corter, all of Germany.

LaRue was predeceased by his parents; a son, James Corter; a brother, Paul Corter; and a sister, Evelyn Martz.

Relatives and friends are invited to LaRue's Life Celebration beginning with a visitation from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, and from 10 until 11 a.m. Tuesday at the James C. Maneval Funeral Home, Ltd., "A Life Celebration Home," 500 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. David Hart officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Park.
