Thurman Preston Bennett was born on May 30, 1935, in Chilicothe, TX, to parents, Thurman Earnest Bennett and Nora May Benedict. He was raised in Chilicothe, where he graduated from high school. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he proudly served in WWII, Pearl Harbor, and Vietnam.
Thurman married Imogene Wilks in Dallas, TX, on September 26, 1977. After retiring from USAF, Thurman was the produce manager for Safeway for many years before retiring from there as well. He then went on to be a care giver at Terrell State Hospital and retired in 1998. He was an avid coin collector and loved to take care of his yard. He loved to fish and master crossword puzzle but most of all he loved spending time with his great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by parents as well as son-in-law, Robert Ray McDonald, Sr., brother-in-law, Hubert Jock, and sister, Sue Marie Beavers.
Thurman is survived by his wife, Imogene Bennet of Wills Point; brothers Jo Bennett and wife Barbra of Royce City and John Bennett of Celina, TX; one daughter, Norma Jean McDonald of Wills Point and one son, Edward Bennett of Wyoming, IL. Two grandchildren, Amber Santos and husband, John of Wills Point and Robert McDonald, Jr and wife Heather of Forney and four great grandchildren, Morgan Santos, Daemon Santos, Robert McDonald III and Leland McDonald. Many nieces and nephews.
It was recently found that Thurman was also survived by two more daughters along with 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
