Jimmie Lewis Crosby, 79, of Valdosta, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2015, at South Georgia Medical Center.. Mr. Crosby was born Jan. 5, 1926, to the late Lacey and Pearlie Giddens Crosby.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and retired as a traffic controller with the City of Valdosta. Mr. Crosby was a member of Union Baptist Church..

Survivors include his children, Cindy (Tom) Saunders of Winter Haven, Fla., Jimmy Michael Crosby of Valdosta, Gary (Meredith) Crosby of Naylor, Joey (Rhonda) Wheeler of Quitman, Sharon Roush of Valdosta, Luanne Higgs of Quitman, John (Dana) Wheeler of Quitman, Wayne (Laura) Wheeler of Valdosta, Deana (Roger) Smith of Valdosta; 19 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Leland Crosby of Adel; special love ones, Kristin Wheeler and Shawn Salter of Jakin, Ga.; caretaker, Patty Reed of Valdosta..

Mr. Crosby was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Fender Crosby, and seven siblings..

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 4 p.m., May 20, 2015, at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Sauls officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military rites.. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at Maxwell-Miller Funeral Home.
