Paul K. Reiter dies; former Berks banker
Paul K. Reiter, 79, a retired banker, of 222 Pennsylvania Ave., Shillington, was dead on arrival Tuesday at 4:25 a.m., in Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Esther A. (Arnold) Reiter.
Reiter last worked as senior vice president and trust officer of the Bank of Pennsylvania from 1967 until retiring in 1972.
He first was employed as a teller in 1929 by the former Reading National Bank. In 1938 he was employed by Mount Penn Trust as a teller. He was vice president and trust officer of Mount Penn Trust in 1947.
In 1960 he was senior vice president of Peoples Trust City Bank and in 1967 was named senior vice president and trust officer of the Bank of Pennsylvania.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Grill.
A 1947 graduate of the School of Banking of Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J., he was a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, Philadelphia, and was president in 1971-72. He was a former president of the Pennsylvania Bankers' Association.
He was president of the Shillington Rotary Club in 1960-61.
He was a past conductor of the former Winona Band, Shillington, and was a past director of Community General Hospital.
He was a past director of the Berks County Chamber of Commerce and the Reading Credit Union, and was currently a director of Yocoms' Cemetery, Grill.
Born in Mohnton, he was a son of the late Roland and Marjorie (Griffith) Reiter.
Other survivors include two daughters, Jeanette A., widow of Donald Born, Barbara A., wife of Herman E. Walter, both of Shillington, and a stepdaughter, Patricia A., wife of Richard Winter, Lebanon.
There are also four grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
