Jacob Castillo died peacefully at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital on Thursday, April 18. He was born on March 3, 1932, in Aragon, N.M. He is survived by his wife, Eloisa, of Albuquerque; his daughter, Gloria Traynham and husband, Jeff; his sons, Robert and Daniel Castillo; eight grandchildren, Sean and Jeff Holt, Danny, Alec and Matt Castillo, "little ladies," Michelle, Nicole and Kristen Traynham; two great-grandsons, Isiah and Sean Holt; two sisters, Ida Gallegos and Gertrude and husband, Keith; two brothers, Diego Castillo and wife, Sophia, and Dimas Castillo and wife, Francis; and many nieces and nephews.

He graduated from Belen High School in 1950 where he lettered in football and played on the All-Star football team. He was a Ranger during the Korean Conflict and he received the Purple Heart. He graduated from the University of Albuquerque with a bachelor of arts degree in 1968.

He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. His parents, Martin and Atanacia Castillo, and his brother, Ramon, preceded him in death.

Cremation is being handled by Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors.
