DECATUR - John Pugh, 77, of Decatur passed from this life Saturday (April 13, 2002) in Decatur.
Homegoing services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour before services in the church. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. J.J. Moran & Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
John was born Oct. 3, 1924, in Brownsville, Tenn., the son of Phil and Candis Palmer Pugh. When he was a child, he was a member of the Lower Salem Baptist Church in Brownsville. When he came to Decatur, John attended Primitive Baptist Church and later became a member of Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church. He was employed as a cook at the Blue Mill. He married Adlena Flarence Dec. 15, 1952. She passed away a few years ago.
He leaves to cherish fond memories his sister, Annie Frank Parker of Malden, Mo.; sister-in-law, Willie Mae Pugh of Brownsville; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sisters and seven brothers.
The family would like to thank Aspen Ridge Care Centre, especially the staffs of the second and fifth floor; Decatur Memorial Hospital ICU; Dr. D. Patel and his staff; and his many friends who watched over him at the Lexington High Rise on Van Dyke.
