Evan H. Harrel, 70, died Saturday at a local nursing home. He was born February 26, 1907 in Ellensburg. He was married to Maragret McKenzie in 1930 in Ellensburg. He attended Thorp Elementary and Ellensburg High School. He was employed by the Northern Pacific Railroad in Pasco for a time and returned to Ellensburg to work for his brother, Arley, and farmed for himself in the Thorp area until 1946.

He was employed as a truck driver for R. I. Marsh, Wayne Wells, Ward Rugh, and Ellensburg Cemetery Products and retired in 1969. He made his home at 401 S. Anderson; was a member of the First Christian Church, Masonic Lodge, Grace Chapter 105 OES, and Teamsters Local 524. He was a CD radio and fishing enthusiast.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, at the home; four daughters, Mrs. Marjorie West, Moses Lake, Mrs. Gerry Bennett and Mrs. Erva Hatfield, both Ellensburg, and Mrs. Irene Legg, Camas; eight grandchildren, four great grandsons, two brothers, Arley and Bill both of Ellensburg; and a sister, Mrs. Ella Cooke of Ellensburg. He was preceded in death by a brother, Claude, and a grandson Bob Bennett.

Funeral will be at Evenson Chapel, Wednesday, 2 p.m. with the Rev. A. William Dietz officiating. The Masonic Lodge will conduct grave side services at the IOOF Cemetery. Memorials may be sent to the Cancer Fun in care of Mrs. K. J. Larimer, 209 E. Capitol Avenue.
