Claude L. Harrel, 62, native-born Ellensburg resident died Monday near Kittitas. Born December 7, 1910, he farmed in the valley for many years, then moved to Seattle in 1953 and worked for the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. He returned to Ellensburg in 1970 and for the past two years had been employed by Twin City Foods. He was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge and a member of the Elks and teamster Union.
He is survived by his wife, Iris, of Ellensburg; five daughters, Mrs. Sylvia Crawford of Conway, Washington; Mrs. Janet Kastnig of North Bend; Mrs. Claudia McPhillips of San Diego; Mrs. Arlene Oprendek of Resten, Virginia; and Mrs. Nancy Connolly of New York City; three brothers, Arley, Bill and Ervan Harrel, and one sister, Mrs. Ella Cooke, all of Ellensburg and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 2 p.m. at Evenson Chapel. The Rev. William Dietz will officiate and burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery.
The family suggests those wishing to send memorials may send them to the Heart Fund, care of Mrs. Frank Green, 913 E. Washington.
