Mrs. Fred Ahrens, 61 year-old resident of Birchdale township, died at 5:40 Saturday morning in the family home she had lived in for 38 years.
She was born to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Schmiesing at Meire Grove May 14, 1887. On Feb. 21, 1911 Mary Schmiesing was married to Fred Ahrens. He survives with seven children: Mrs. Al Arnzen (Wahlburga), of Sauk Centre; Mrs. Edwin Kemper (Dorothy), Melrose; Mrs. Arnold Berscheit (Marie), of Grey Eagle; and Rose Ahrens, at home; the sons. Edwin, Sylvester and Ferdinand, of Sauk Centre.
She also leaves three brothers and four sisters: Mrs. Henry Roggenkamp, of Bluffton; Al and Ben Schmiesing, Meire Grove; Mrs. Frank Hinnenkamp, Mrs. Frank Kettler and Mrs. Conrad Petermeier, Melrose, and Herman Schmiesing, of Sauk Centre.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning from St. Paul's church at 9:30 with the Rev. M.N. Kremer as celebrant and Rev. Lawrence Botz, of Grey Eagle, and Rev. Jacques, St. Paul's assistant pastor, as deacons. Mrs. Ahrens was interred in St. Paul's cemetery.
