Mr. Aiken honorably served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a First Lieutenant in the 495th Bomber Squadron where he piloted missions in the European Theater. After the war, with the benefit of the G.I bill, he attended the University of Florida where he graduated Magna Cum Lauda with a Masters of Engineering degree. Following graduation, he settled his family in Jacksonville where he built a 50-year professional career as a highway engineer with RS&H.
Funeral services will be at 10:30am on Friday January 13, 2017 at Jacksonville National Cemetery with the Reverend John Diller of the Orange Park Presbyterian Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Harold's name to Alexander Chapel, Weaverville, N.C.
