After a brave and valiant battle with cancer, our dearest sister, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 8, 2017. She was with her loved ones who surrounded her with love and support.

In Mom's own words:

"I was born in the little village of Belleville, WI, on February 16, 1930 in the back room of the family home. Warren and Ethel Rolfe were my very goodly parents. I loved growing up with my big sister Arlene and we remain great friends. I was one of 26 graduates of Belleville HS in 1948. Life in Belleville was fun and uncomplicated. I was a tomboy as there were only boys to play with. We enjoyed evenings playing Kick the Can, Run My Good Sheep Run, Football, and Cowboy and Indians.

Upon running out of gas on a night out with friends, I met my knight in shining armor, Dean Johnson. We were married on September 1, 1953 in Biloxi, MS. We were later sealed in the Cardston, Alberta Temple. Dean was a great husband, partner and father to our four amazing children. With Dean's career in the Air Force came the opportunity to live in Germany, South Carolina, Ohio and Japan before settling in Kaysville.

I worked as a secretary for 19 years at E G King Elementary and enjoyed the friendships made with students and faculty.

I enjoyed family, fishing, lunch with friends, travel, shopping and was passionate about bowling until the end."

Mom was the most kind and loving person we know. Everyone she met loved her and considered her a friend, always putting others before herself. She was an understanding and loving mother who we will miss every day. We strive to carry on her example of living a full life.

After meeting dad, mom joined the LDS Church and has been a faithful member ever since. She especially liked playing the piano in Church.

We know Mom is having a joyful reunion with her sweetheart Dean, parents, family and friends who preceded her.

She is survived by her sister Arlene Linn along with her adoring children, Pam McMurdie, Joni (Ken) Page, Eric (Belinda) Johnson, and Jennifer (Greg) Steed. Her 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren were precious to her.

We are very grateful to the wonderful team of caregivers at Huntsman and Encompass Hospice for the loving care they gave her.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville LDS Crestwood Ward, 1039 E. Crestwood Road. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider giving a donation to the Huntsman Cancer Institute.
