E. M. Cabaniss, Businessman And Jersey City Civic Leader - Edward M. Cabaniss, 75, a retired businessman and civic leader in Jersey City, N. J. died yesterday in Doctors Hospital. A resident of Washington for the past three years, Mr. Cabaniss had retired last May as president of the Lead Pencil Manufactures Association. Active in Jersey City's church and civic work, Mr. Cabaniss had been president of the Jersey City Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Advisory Council of the Salvation Army and the United Fund of Jersey City.

Mr. Cabaniss was president of Faith at Work, Inc., and a senior warden of the Calvary Episcopal Church of New York City. While living in Washington, he was a member of the National Press Club.

He leaves his wife, Jule, of the home address at 4740 Connecticut avenue N. W.; a daughter, Mrs. Harmer Reeside, of 119 Grafton street, Chevy Chase, and a granddaughter.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in St. Alban's Church, Massachusetts and Wisconsin avenues N.W. Burial will be in Rock Creek Cemetery.

The family asks that expressions of sympathy be in the form of contributions to the Heart Fund.
