Obit from Messenger of Truth Issue 11, 1967:

My beloved companion, our Father and Grandfather, Jacob B. Becker, son of Min. Benjamin P. and Eva (Schmidt) Becker, was born May 14, 1888 at Galva, Kansas. They lived on a farm south of Galva, where he received his education, mostly in the German language and grew to manhood in this community.
At the age of 20 he accepted the Saviour and upon repentance and forgiveness of sins, found peace with God. Upon confession of Faith he was baptized, becoming a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, on March 28, 1909, by Minister Tobias A. Unruh, to which he remained faithful to the end.
On Sept. 24, 1911, he joined hands with me, Mary Unruh in the bond of Holy Matrimony. We established our home on the same section on which he was born, where we also resided all his life.
This union was blest with 10 children. We shared joys and sorrows of life together for over 55 years. He was engaged in farming and also active in the community. For many years he was lineman for the rural telephone line.
He was always courageous, even through difficult times, always esteeming the spiritual needs and activities of greater value than the material things of life. He loved to visit the sick and often we would stay all night with the sick ones, thus showing his concern and love for mothers. In the Church he was Sunday School teacher for the German class for many years.
He was a faithful and devoted companion and a kind and loving Father, ever concerned for the spiritual welfare of his children and grandchildren.
Father enjoyed exceptionally good health throughout his life, until 12 years ago, when his health began to fail. The last number of years he has been hospitalized at different times. He was admitted to Mercy Hospital on March 28, 1967, where he remained during the last five weeks of his life. He patiently endured unto the end. He peacefully fell asleep at 4:35 A.M. on May 1, 1967, having reached the age of 78 years, 11 months and 16 days. He left us a blessed testimony of peace and resignation with full assurance of entering unto rest.
He leaves to mourn his departure me, his bereaved companion; three sons and two daughters: Jesse and wife Frieda of Gypsum, Kansas; Aaron and wife Hannah of Metz, Mo.; Dora and husband Menno Koehn of Galva, Kans.; Martin and wife LaDeen of Galva, Kansas; Myrtle and husband Milton of Butler, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, David Becker of Moundridge, Kansas and one sister, Mrs. Tobe B. Koehn of Galva, Kansas; also a step mother-in-law, Mrs. John B. Unruh of Galva and a host of relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death are four daughters, one son, one grandson, his parents, one brother and six sisters.

Loving and kind in all his ways,
Upright and just to the end of his days;
Sincere and true in heart and mind;
A beautiful memory he left behind.

Through all pains he didn't complain,
His concern was of heavenly worth;
And when the angels called him Home,
He bade "farewell" to all on earth.

Your life will be a wonderful memory,
Your absence a silent grief;
You sleep in God's beautiful garden,
In sunshine of perfect peace.

Funeral services were held in the LoneTree Church, Galva, Kansas on Wednesday P.M., May 3, 1967. Minister Frank Unruh made opening remarks and prayer. Minister Abe D. Koehn brought the message from Heb. 13:14; Heb. 11:8-10; 2 Cor. 4:14-18; 2 Cor. 5:1 and 2 Tim. 4:6-8.
Interment was made in the LoneTree Cemetery.
