She was born on June 9, 1931 in Aurora, IL. the daughter of Wilbur and Lessie Woolley. Joann was united in marriage on January 15, 1950 in Oswego, IL to Mr. Robert D. Walper, and they spent the next 57 years of their lives together. Joann and Robert moved to Sarasota, FL in 1981 and spent the next 26 years enjoying the Florida sunshine.
Mrs. Walper was a member of the Church of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Oswego, IL. She was also a member of the American Legion Post 675 Ladies Auxiliary. She will be remembered for her big smile and fun-loving spirit, Joann will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilber and Lessie Woolley; her two sisters, Patricia (John) Haben and Elizabeth (Donald) Sampson; and two nephews, Dennis Sampson and Nicolas Haben.
She is survived by her children, Deborah (Aaron) Jacobs of McHenry, IL, Brad Walper of Bradenton, FL, Steve Walper of Sarasota, FL, and Sheri (Dave) Musser of Oswego, IL.
Joann was a loving grandmother of Tim (Carrie) Jacobs of Island Lake, IL, Sarah Jacobs of McHenry, IL, Matthew, Markus, and Nicole Musser all of Oswego, IL. She loved her four great-grandchildren, Drew Frontzak, Cheyenne, Morgan, and Tyler Jacobs all of Island Lake, IL. Several nieces and nephews survive Joann, including Dale (Alice) Haben of Oswego, IL, Nancy (Steve) Altenbern of Colchester, IL, Don Sampson, Denise Ament, and Diane Kozak, along with many other loving relatives.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date in Oswego, IL.
