Judy Mae Matheson, 54, of Lower Main Street died Saturday at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

She was born in Biddeford, a daughter of Lloyd and Eleanor Baker Kramer. She attended schools in Northfield, Vt., and graduated from Northfield High School in 1962.

She married Daniel L. Matheson Jr. on June 30, 1962.

In 1981 she and her family relocated to Cornish, where she and her husband owned and operated Benson Monuments .

She worked for several years at Northfield Elementary School in the remedial reading program, the Cornish Dress Shop, and in the Cornish Elementary School until her death.

Mrs. Matheson was active in the Cornish Planning Board, the Bonney Memorial Library and the 99 Club.

She was a devoted wife and mother and spent many hours teaching, helping and volunteering for her community and the children.

She was a member of the Northfield Methodist Church, Northfield Falls, Vt., and attended Cornish United Church of Christ.

Surviving are her husband of 36 years; two daughters, Mrs. Leslie (Karen L.) Babb of Freedom, N.H., and Mrs. Matthew (Kimberly L.) Kennedy; a son, Jason L. of Locust Grove, Va.; a sister, Mrs. James (Karla) Bottiggi of Clifton Park, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.

Visiting hours are from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Neal and York Funeral Home, 12 High St., Kezar Falls. A funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Cornish United Church of Christ, Lower Main Street, with the Rev. Denis Dunn officiating.
