The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 7 at 10:30 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Columbus with Rev. Cory Burma officiating. Interment will be in Roselawn Memorial Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home and continue on Saturday from 9:30 AM until service time at the church. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 AM at the church. Memorials are suggested to Camp Luther, Aseracare Hospice, or the family choice.
Lucille was born December 10, 1920, in Platte County, Nebraska, to Henry and Alma (Mickelsen) Cattau, Jr. She was baptized and confirmed at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Columbus. Lucille attended District #10 and Christ Lutheran Grade Schools. On July 11, 1941, Lucille was united in marriage to Arnold C. Hollmann. They farmed north of Columbus until moving to Columbus in 1968.
Over the years Lucille was involved in 4-H leadership for 15 years, and extension club work. She was a member of the Lady Slipper Extension Club. Lucille worked various jobs but loved to work around food, which led her to working for the Columbus Public Schools as a cook and baker. She was later promoted to Food Service Director where she helped develop the school lunch program for all the schools in Columbus. Lucille retired in 1995 after 33 years of dedicated service.
Lucille was known for her baking, gardening, flowers, sewing, and cinnamon rolls. In May 2007 Lucille moved to Meridian Gardens Assisted Living and her interests changed to reading, jigsaw puzzles, and she become an avid fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Atlanta Braves. She enjoyed visits from grandchildren, friends, and family. She was proud that her family consisted of five generations. Lucille was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she did much volunteer work.
