Ruby E. Durant, 83, of Hamilton passed away Friday December 30, 2016 at Community Memorial Hospital, Hamilton.

She was born February 5, 1933 in Oneida, a daughter of George and Anna Mae McCormick Harp and received her education in Oneida schools. On August 22, 1950, Ruby married Gordon L. Durant who predeceased her on June 1, 1991. Ruby had worked at Colgate University's Cutten Hall in Hamilton. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who loved grandparenting. Ruby was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Hamilton.

Surviving are her children, Brenda Thieben of Hamilton; Allan and Dawn Durant of Oriskany Falls; Rebecca and George Wormuth of Madison; thirteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; siblings: James (Bihyun) Candee, Ovedo, FL; Edith Froelick, Oneida; Marie Zophy, Canastota; Eugene (Janet) Candee, Raymond (Kathy) Candee, all of Oneida; William (Sue) Candee, Las Vegas; Ruth Durant, WA; Clarissa (James) Egeleston, Munnsville; Georgia Harp, WA; Susan Daniels, MT; Wil Harp, Nancy Harp, Valerie (James) Schunke, all of WA; Thomas (Averill) Harp, OR and AK; brother-in-law, John Garrett, FL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sons, Robert and Ronald Durant; her siblings, Ernest, Edward, George Richard and Robert Harp, Lillian Prescott, Roberta Harp, Marilyn Garrett; and a cousin, Millie VanDenheuvel.

Interment is private at the convenience of the family.
